Healthwatch Cumbria has had a number of concerns highlighted to them by patients trying to register with the new dental practice in Appleby. We understand that registration is closed due to high demand. The current message will be received by patients trying to register through the website address below:
“ Due to overwhelming demand it has been necessary for us to temporarily close patient registrations to allow us to process the registrations and begin treatment for patients.
Any registrations received in the post after Friday 12th October 2018 will be date stamped on arrival and dealt with in the order that they have been received.
Any registration forms remaining once we have reached capacity will be placed on a waiting list and will be contacted should future capacity allow.
If you have submitted a registration form either online or by post, please DO NOT contact us, we will contact you to arrange an appointment when you have been added to the system, or to inform you that you have been placed on the waiting list.
This process may take several weeks so please BE PATIENT.
It will take us some time to transfer your details from the registration forms to our system and then contact you to book an appointment. The more time our staff spend dealing with registration enquiries, the less time they have to transfer your details and contact you to book appointments….”
Healthwatch Cumbria has been informed by the practice that it could take up to 12 months for patients to be contacted.
Should patients in Appleby wish to try to find an alternative dentist then they can visit the NHS Choices site: https://www.nhs.uk/Service-Search/Dentist/LocationSearch/3
Healthwatch Cumbria will continue to monitor the situation and communicate information as soon as received from NHS England or the practice itself.
