Take Part in the National Audit of Dementia Care in Hospital

It is thought that up to a quarter of hospital beds are filled with people living with dementia at any one time. The National Audit of Dementia assesses the quality of care provided to this vulnerable patient group when they are in hospital. In 2016, 4664 people who look after a family member/friend/partner with dementia in England and Wales completed a questionnaire for the National Audit of Dementia. You can see the reports the audit published last year which highlight the feedback from carers and family at www.rcpsych.ac.uk/dementiareport2017

This summer, the National Adut are running the carer questionnaire again. The questionnaire is anonymous, consists of 16 questions, and carers can answer any or all of them. It also provides people with the opportunity to provide comments and suggestions in a free text comments box.

Between June and September 2018, carers, family members, friends and key workers can access a paper carer questionnaire for the audit on the wards in all 196 participating hospitals.

The questionnaire is also available online (in English only) at www.carerq.org.uk. Anyone who completes the questionnaire will have the opportunity to enter a prize draw to win one of five £50 vouchers for a high street store of their choice. Instructions for entering the prize draw are included on the questionnaire and prize draw entries cannot be linked to questionnaire responses.
