Cumbria Partnership NHS Foundation Trust are delighted to announce as part of our ongoing improvement programme within Millom, Waterloo House GP surgery and team will be relocating to the Community Hospital. In order to accommodate the new surgery, renovation work is needed and we expect this to begin to take place inside the hospital within the next few days.
Angela McAllister-Casey the service Manager for Furness said: “Having the GP surgery on the same site as the hospital will provide a better service for patients with more opportunity for integrated working between professionals. During the renovation works there will be some disruption to our community clinics which has given us the exciting opportunity to work more closely with our community bases of Millom Network Centre, The Children’s Centre and AGE UK.”
The GP partners at the Waterloo House Practice, said: “Due to issues with GP recruitment and the current premises, Waterloo House Surgery is closing. The remaining Doctors and staff are moving to Millom Hospital as a short term measure. We are looking forward to this exciting opportunity to develop an integrated primary care service for the locality and maintain a local GP presence in the area. We would like to thank all our patients we have provided care to over the years as well as our committed and loyal staff.”
Patients will be provided with full details of any changes to their clinics in due course.
In order to keep disruption to a minimum the renovations will include weekend working.
The Trust want to assure the public that in order to ensure ease of use and the confidentiality of all patients and service users the GP surgery area will be separate from the main hospital.
