I started work as a Careers Officer supporting young people think about their futures. Following a career break to bring up my family I became a Health Promotion Assistant helping people stop smoking. This led to a project management role for the North Cumbria Health Action Zone focused on developing health promoting organisations.
From April 2002 – September 2013 I worked for Cumbria County Council developing and managing the Cumbria Strategic Partnership and then leading on culture and health policy in the Chief Executive Office, managing the relationship between the council and its cultural delivery partners and providing support to the Health and Well Being Board through its Working Group.
In October 2013 I became Chief Operating Officer for People First and Healthwatch. This involves providing leadership and supervision to all the senior managers to ensure that all of our projects are delivered to the highest possible standard, and also deputising for the Chief Executive when required.
I like to think of myself as a strategic thinker, an organiser, a relationship builder, a good listener and a problem solver. My approach is always to get to know people and to build good working networks. I am completely focused on helping People First and Healthwatch to achieve their ambitions to be well known and trusted, leading edge innovators, continuously improving and for all of our staff to be skilled and experienced.
