My background is mainly in Education. Beginning in Cumbria teaching adults with special needs in Workington and also Mayfield School Whitehaven. Then working for the primary special needs service in Whitehaven which covered a range of schools in West Cumbria down to Eskdale and Egremont. Prior to retirement I was an associate lecturer in psychology and sociology for the Open University in the North.
My qualifications include a first degree in psychology and a Masters in Educational Management. I am addicted to continuing education and am currently studying Quality Improvement in Health and Social Care through Future Learn.
I have experience of being on the boards of both primary and secondary schools. I have been a volunteer for The Eden Valley Hospice for the past six years at our bookshop in Brampton.
I wholeheartedly share Healthwatch Cumbria’s ethos of enablement and improvement in our local health services and in the idea of being a voice for everyone who uses the health and care services in Cumbria.
