Gilda started her career in banking, since which, she has worked in the motor trade for 30 years. Originally for a local prestige company as their accounts and administration manager then as a parts manager for a dual franchise dealership. Gilda then moved on to an international prestige manufacturer where she looked after staff recruitment, training and retention for all of the centres in Scotland and Northern Ireland at the same time as leading a team of seven other consultants across the country. Before Gilda’s retirement she was the business manager for a mental health charity in Cumbria. Gilda spends her spare time as a treasurer for Workington Playgoers at the Theatre Royal and for DeWoDe (Dedicated Women in Development), a charity which supports a health centre and women’s group in Northern Uganda. She is the chair of Chrysalis Cumbria. They provide day care services for people with learning difficulties. Gilda enjoys fell walking, cycling, reading, sewing and cross stitch. She would like to ensure that health delivery across Cumbria works towards becoming a national leader.
