Hospital Car Parking Update, April 2015

Hospital Car Parking Update

Healthwatch Cumbria produced a report on car parking at both North Cumbria University Hospital NHS Trust sites. Please see report attached below:

Healthwatch-Cumbria-Car-Parking-Report-December-2014

The report was presented to the Trust in December 2014 and detailed the views and experiences of over 800 people.  The Trust responded and gave an action plan detailing what steps they would undertake in order to resolve the current challenges.

A Healthwatch Ambassador, Derick Cotton, who was part of the original Healthwatch car parking task and finish group, has been appointed to continue to oversee the progress of the Trust by attending regular meetings and reporting back to Healthwatch.

We can report that to date we have been pleased with the progress made by the Trust.  It is clear that they are taking the matter very seriously and are putting in place a number of actions to support the resolution of the situation.

Our sense is that more progress has been made at the Cumberland Infirmary site, this may be because the West Cumberland Hospital site presents a different range of challenges due to the ongoing redevelopment.  We expect that more information will be made available by the Trust in the coming weeks.
