Cumbria’s Voice Just Got Louder

Helen Horne the chair of Healthwatch Cumbria has just been appointed to the board of Healthwatch England. This prestigious role will see Helen support Healthwatch England to carry out its vital role as the national consumer champion for health and social care users.

Helen said:

“I am thrilled to be able to support the vital work of Healthwatch at both a local level in Cumbria and now at a national level. I will be seeking to ensure that the views of those living in rural communities such as Cumbria are heard loud and clear and I also want to support Healthwatch England to understand the issues faced in northern England.

The views of NHS patients and social care customers are vital in shaping the development of a health and care system that is fit for the twenty first century. I will work hard to represent not only Cumbria but the whole of the North West.”

Helen has recently started her new appointment and we will see her meeting with local Healthwatch organisations from all over the country to hear about their challenges and successes and to provide strategic leadership to the Healthwatch England team.
David Blacklock Chief Executive of Healthwatch Cumbria said:

“We were really pleased when Healthwatch England recognised the great work that we were doing here in Cumbria, and now having Helen sit on their board will ensure that we are even more closely linked to national developments and initiative. I would like to congratulate Helen on this very well deserved appointment.”
